Cheddar Reservoir, Somerset: A Family Walk Around the Water

Cheddar Reservoir is a large reservoir near Cheddar Gorge in Somerset. This post shares a family walk around the reservoir and some thoughts on its vast, slightly industrial atmosphere.

It has a sailing club, who uses the reservoir for sailing their boats.

It looks vast & a bit industrial.

On the 25th of Jan 2026, my family & I were walking a little bit around the vast reservoir, & funny enough the children were sometimes screaming their heads off for various reasons, & it kind of got on my nerves a tiny bit.
