Beesands is a coastal village and beach between Torcross and Start Point in South Devon. The area has a long history connected to fishing, which is still visible in parts of the village today.

On the 19th of March 2026, Amber and I visited Beesands to see how it had changed following the storms earlier in the year. The effects of the storms were clearly visible along the seafront.

One of the most noticeable changes was that the old winch engine, which had been part of the beach for a long time, was no longer there. It had most likely been washed away or removed after being damaged by the storms.

Parts of the beach were also cordoned off, with machinery in place carrying out repair work. This made it clear that the area had been significantly affected and that efforts were ongoing to restore and protect the coastline.
